RECYCLING LEFTOVERS OF AMERICAN CAPITALISM INTO ART AND MUSIC
The Queen’s Metal Band™ is, first and foremost, a musical sculpture installation inspired by Pascal Giacomini’s time spent working with found materials with a group of vodou artists in a slum of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. These vintage oil cans are cast-offs of the American capitalist system, a sort of history of small oil companies that have been disappearing since the sixties to make room for mega corporations.
Combining his talents as a craftsman to upcycle these materials allowed the artist to subvert their original meaning, repurposing them into art objects and giving them new life.
The Queen’s Metal Band™ instruments are available for purchase.
